About me

Welcome to my blog about my Internet Marketing Journey. If you’ve reached this page, I can only assume it’s because you’d like to know a little more about who I am.

I’m an IT manager by day and, now, an internet marketer by night. I am kinda using that last phrase pretty lightly because I am new to being an internet marketer. I’ve never really sold anything online. Not even on ebay!

My first post on this blog, which was just today 9/27/2008, was my first REAL attempt at a blog about internet marketing. I really am JUST beginning. I have dabbled with it a little bit in the past. Reading blog posts here and there. I’ve purchased a few things to help me get started and then never looked at them again. I’ve decided to participate in programs that will teach you how to get started, but then find myself going astray.

So what’s different about this time? What is it that makes me think that this is my REAL beginning? I am not sure what it is, but something feels different. I think my desire to become successful online has finally stopped simmering and has started boiling. I also think I’m starting to associate with people who are making income online who I respect and who genuinely seem interested in helping others grow.

Everyone has their reasons for wanting to make money online. This is also very true for me. And, since I am just starting out, let me tell you what mine are!

I believe that time is one of the most valuable commodities we have. You can’t save it up and keep it for later; you can’t use up a whole bunch now because you’re afraid you won’t have any later. Time is static. It’s use it or lose it.

How you choose to spend your time is up to you, but you have to choose carefully depending on what you want out of life. Over the course of the past couple of years, I have discovered that what I really want out of life besides a happy, healthy family, is to know that I have contributed to the well-being of others. I want to have fun and know that someone gained “something” as a result of my efforts. That “something” can be a smile, a laugh, a sigh of relief, but SOMETHING that will make them realize that there IS benevolence out there.

There is a Christian radio station here where I live. For about a year, I was a volunteer DJ on Saturday afternoons. It was there I learned a few things. A) I like to talk (ok, I already knew that). B) I liked to volunteer. C) I have the perfect face for radio. And D) I’m happiest when I’m involved in something that I feel has real meaning and a real impact.

After my year of working at the radio station, I decided to put it on hold for a while because of my busy schedule. Because of that ever-nagging exchange system (money!) I have a very, very busy work schedule and found myself with little time for my wife. I decided that since I HAVE to work, and since my wife was more important to me than my few hours on the air every weekend, that I would sacrifice the on-air time for some with-wife time.

That bothered me for one reason alone – I’d rather be volunteering for something like the radio station than working as hard as I work for a job where I have plenty of room to grow within the company, but doesn’t give me the sense of fulfillment I get when I’m helping others.

For me that’s really one of the biggest catalysts for starting this IM trek. A few years ago when I first started dabbling and learning, I just wanted to get rich quick. I wanted to have a lot of money and have a lavish lifestyle. While I don’t think I would mind raking in the dough, I think I’ve matured a lot in the past few years and have found a better, more meaningful reason to embark in an online career. I find myself quite upset with myself that I didn’t start sooner, but at the same time I feel thankful that God saw fit to allow me to grow first.

So there you have it. If you’ve read this far then you kinda know who I am, and you know why I want to do this. It is my hope that by making this declaration, I commit myself to moving full-speed ahead!
